Labor Day Parade Line Of March
Labor Day
Parade Line Of March
As the Visiting Nurse Association of Newtown continues to celebrate its 90th anniversary this year, one of the groupâs signature members will have her day in the sun. Grand Marshal Mae Schmidle will lead the 2008 Newtown Labor Day Parade from its starting point at the top of Main Street, down to and across Glover Avenue, and then onto Queen Street before ending at the intersection of Church Hill Road. The parade â the townâs 47th such celebration â will step off at its traditional 10 am start on Monday.
Led by a pair of escort divisions that will also follow tradition (featuring Newtownâs Police Department and the NHS cheerleaders and marching band, along with the Labor Day Parade Committee), dozens of churches, fire companies, marching bands, Shriners, drum and bugle corps, politicians, clubs and other organizations will once again step in time, dance, ride on floats, and carry their flags and banners in front of thousands of friends, family, and neighbors. Last-minute changes were being made as we went to press this week, so there may be a group or two appearing in a different location than is listed here, but the following is the 2008 Line of March as presented by the Labor Day Parade Line of March Committee.
