KAA Elected Artists Art Show And Sale Features
A Selection Of Works By Ruth Newquist
Kent â The Gallery at the Kent Art Association announces its Elected Artists Art Show with more than 100 paintings and sculpture on display. The collection opened August 24 will remain on view until Sunday, September 28, with oils, watercolors, pastels, graphics and sculpture. All works are for sale.
Participating artists are members of Kent Art Association and have achieved Elected Artist status by participating in several juried shows and have been selected by present elected artists. Many prize-winning artists from Connecticut and adjacent states are represented in the show.
Two receptions are scheduled, with exhibiting artists present at both. The first opening reception will be Friday, August 29, from 5 to 7 pm. Â The second will follow on Saturday, August 30, from 2 until 4 pm. Refreshments will be served at both receptions.
Concurrent with the Elected Artists Show, Ruth Newquist of Newtown will be featured in a solo show in KAA galleryâs Aiken Room. Mrs Newquist has been given this honor after being named the winner of the Dines Carlson Medal of Merit Award for Best in Show in the 2007 Presidentâs Show.
Mrs Newquist is known for her oils and watercolors of New York cityscapes as well as New England landscapes. She is an elected artist member of the National Watercolor Society and Connecticut Watercolor Society, as well as Allied Artists of America and the Salmagundi Art Club in New York City.
Mrs Newquist exhibits her paintings throughout New England and New York and has won over thirty awards in national juried art shows. She was featured on the Watercolor pages of American Artist Magazine in its June 1999 issue and was also represented in Best of Watercolor III, a hard cover book published by Rockport Publishers in 1999 and Splash 9, a hardcover book published in 2006.Â
The KAA gallery is at 21 South Main Street (Route 7), just south of the monument. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 5 pm, and admission is free at all times.
