Halloween Hunter Pace

Did you know more than 300 horses are coming to Newtown? The Newtown Bridle Lands Association’s “Frost on the Pumpkin Hunter Pace” will be held on October 26.

Every year hundreds of horses are trailered to town and compete in a cross-country race. This type of race is called a Hunter Pace and riders in teams of two or three race against the clock.

The course is 8 to 10 miles long and covers varied terrain, roads, trails, streams, logs and jumps.

The “Frost on the Pumpkin” is always a favorite and many of the riders and horses are in costume. This colorful event will be held on Mount Nebo Road (parking will be clearly marked) and bring the family. It’s a morning/midday happening and, if you like, lunch tickets may be purchased in advance – details to follow.
