The Junior Club champions are crowned at Rock Ridge Country Club at the end of each August.

Men’s Championship

The 27-hole Men’s Club Championship Qualifier took place on August 23. Only the top 16 players from the qualifier are seeded in the championship bracket.

This year, the cut line was 122, or 17 over par after 27 holes.

Art Fuller and George Trudell captured the top two seeds with a score of 112. Fuller edged out Trudell for the top seed in a match of cards. Once the top 16 players were determined, the tournament changes from stroke play to match play, with the first round played the next day. Fuller and Trudell won their match and moved on to the second round. However, the third seed and fourth seed were both upset in their first match.

Third seed John Gschwind lost to 2008 Junior Club Champion Kevin O’Connell on the first playoff hole and fourth seed Tom Bartram was upset by Graham Fyffe after Fyffe tied his lowest round ever of 72 at Rock Ridge. In the other matches, Mark Curtis beat John DuBraski, Steve Mais defeated Pat McLaughlin, Larry McCoy upset 2006 runner-up Sean Patrick, and 2007 Runner Up Mike Johnson knocked out Jim Cummings. The final eight golfers will play their second round on Saturday.

Ladies Championship

The final match of the Ladies Club Championship was played on August 24 between Kara Foulk and Janet Duffy.

This was a rematch of the 2007 finals which Foulk won. This year, the match went back and forth. Foulk made a birdie on the 18th hole to force a playoff and followed up her birdie on 18 with another birdie on the first playoff hole to retain her title as the 2008 Club Champion.
