Newtown Football '03
Newtown Football â03
To the Editor:
As a parent of a current Newtown football player and longtime resident and Newtown sports fan, I would like to take this opportunity to express my support and appreciation to all the individuals involved in Newtownâs football programs, from Pop Warner through Ken Roberts and the Newtown Varsity Program.
We as parents often donât give enough credit to the coaches who spend countless hours for no pay at the Pop Warner level to high school coaches who receive a small stipend for their efforts. Football is much more than just winning games.
Our children deserve our support and we need to help them develop team skills that will help them to succeed in every day life. Many times, we as parents overstep our boundaries, which hurts not only our children but the rest of the team.
Newtown has had many teams over the years that have made us all very proud. Our kids prove to us time and time again how childish we can be. If we canât be there supporting our teams and working for the mutual interests of all the players involved, what lesson are we teaching them?
I urge you as fans, friends, relatives, and parents to come and be a positive influence in the 2003 football teams and coaches season. Eighty-niners to varsity, itâs all Newtown football.
