SOUVENIR SPOON DEPICTING OWNEY

ALBANY, N.Y. — A delegation of souvenir spoon collectors presented a souvenir spoon depicting Owney, Albany’s famous Rail Mail Dog, to the Postal Museum on April 2. Owney was the mascot of the postal service in the 1890s and he and his story are favorites of the museum staff and visitors.

The Northeastern Spoon Collectors Guild, which presented the spoon on behalf of all spoon collectors, will conduct its spring meeting during Brimfield Week in May in Chicopee, Mass. Nonmembers are invited to attend a social trading session on Friday, May 13, 8 to 10 pm. For information, visit the club website, www.spooncollector.com.

A national convention will be in Kingsport, Tenn., July 20–24, at the Meadowview Marriott. About 100 collectors are expected to attend.
