Lighthouse Boat Race

The fourth annual Soundkeeper Lighthouse to Lighthouse Race, hosted by the Pequot Outrigger Canoe Club, will be held Saturday, September 6, at Compo Beach in Westport. Registration is 8 am and starting time is 10 am. All of the profits will benefit Soundkeeper, a 501(c)3 non-profit group responsible for protecting the ecology of the Long Island Sound community, maintaining safety vessels and promoting the Sound as a viable recreation area. Racers will be asked to make a $35 donation. More than 150 are expected to participate. The race is open to all human-powered vessels (kayaks, rowboats, surk skis, outriggers, etc.) and more than $2,000 in prize money will be awarded (as well as plaques and gifts). Blue Chip Girls’ Basketball

The Blue Chip Girls’ Basketball Shootout – a high exposure event designed for the student-athlete aspiring to play at the college level – will be coming to Sacred Heart University in Fairfield on Sunday, September 21. All players must register between 8 and 8:30 am. Games will begin at 9 am. There is a mandatory NCAA meeting for all players at 8:30 am. Applications should be in by September 7.
