Irish Festival At Ives Concert Park

DANBURY — The Danbury Ladies’ and Men’s Ancient Order of Hibernians will host its Ninth Annual Greater Danbury Irish Festival the weekend of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 12-14. The festival will again be presented at Ives Concert Park, on the Westside campus of Western Connecticut State University (off Mill Plain Road).

Festivities will run from 5 to 10:30 pm on Friday, 11 am to 10:30 pm on Saturday, and 11 am to 7 pm on Sunday. The festival will run rain or shine.

Featured will be pipe bands, step dancers, cultural exhibits, ceili and set dancing, Irish imports, food and drink, souvenir tents, children’s activities, and sporting demonstrations.

Irish bands and entertainment will be handled by Derek Warfield, The Tipperary Knights, Dermot Henry, The Highland Rovers, Black Thorn, MacTalla, Merry Ploughboys, Kilbrannan, Gray School of Irish Dance, Keane-Devine Irish Dancers, Celtic Cross Pipe & Drum Band, and Gleann Mor Pipe & Drum Band.

Admission is $10 per day for adults, $5 for college students with ID, and free for children ages 12 and under when accompanied by an adult. Information is available from the AOH Info Line, 730-8211. Full festival details are available at www.danbury.org/aoh/Festival/aohfeis.htm.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians is a not-for profit charitable, religious, and cultural organization founded in Ireland in 1565 and America in 1836.
