Wisdom House To Host Overnight Retreat

LITCHFIELD — Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center will present “Exploring Catholic Culture: Jesus and the Culture of Peace” from Friday, September 11, at 6 pm, to Saturday, September 12, at 3:30 pm.

The program will explore the Catholic Church’s tradition and perspective on peace in the world and among individuals and nations. What values drive our quest for peace? How do the Gospels and Jesus set the standard for our peacemaking efforts?

Leading the discussion on these questions will be John Dear, SJ, organizer, lecturer, retreat leader, peacemaker, and author or editor of approximately 25 books on nonviolence, including his autobiography, A Persistent Peace. In 2008, Father Dear was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

The program is co-sponsored by the Center for Catholic Studies at Fairfield University.

Fees for the program are as follows: Friday evening with dinner $30; Saturday only with meals $90; full program: $130 (shared room); $150 (private room); $165 (private room with bath); or $105 (commuter).
