Porco’s Black Belts Participate In Clinic

Black belts from Porco’s Karate Academy in Sandy Hook recently traveled to Post University in Waterbury for the 9th annual Region 9 Black Belt Clinic. During the weekend-long event, more than 150 black belts and black belt candidates from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire participated in workshops focused on self-defense, weapons and open-hand and feet techniques.

The workshops are led by different masters who are invited, giving participants a broad range of instruction and guidance. Black belt candidates were led by different masters and instructors in practicing drills with knife techniques and handkerchiefs for defense, hapkido grabs and throws and basic forms and broke them down into smaller techniques, a rigorous and strong session on sparring drills and group forms.

The Black Belt Clinic is an opportunity for black belts to train and bond with other black belts in a fun learning environment.

Porco’s Karate Academy is located on 113 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook. The studio also has a branch in Southbury at 316 Main Street South.
