Parking For NHS 2009-2010 School Year

By Eliza Hallabeck

With construction on the Newtown High School expansion project underway and eight new temporary classrooms taking up even more space in the parking lot at the high school, NHS Principal Charles Dumais said he expects parking at the school to be similar to last year for students.

Using a lottery drawing, Mr Dumais said, “I anticipate most seniors are going to end up getting one (parking pass).”

Thirty temporary parking spaces were created recently near the main entrance to the school’s parking lot, helping to relieve the impact the temporary classrooms have on parking space.

Mr Dumais said fencing has also been adjusted, in what was the back “junior” parking lot, and the school will have between 50 to 60 spaces to use there.

Mr Dumais has also been updating his blog, www.dumais.us/newtown/blog, with photos and information on what students can expect for parking this coming school year.
