NHS Sports Tryouts Saturday
Tryouts for Newtown High Schoolâs fall sports teams will take place this Saturday, August 29.
All students who are trying out for a sports team at Newtown High School must bring the following items on the first day of practice in order to participate:
*Physical Form. A physical is good for 13 months from the time that it was signed by the doctor. These yellow forms are located in the Newtown High School nurseâs office and main office and on Nighthawksports.com. No other form will be accepted.
*Parent Permission Form. A parent permission form must be filled out and signed by a parent and the student for each new sports season. These forms are located on the back of the yellow physical form.
A Pay-To-Participate Fee will be collected once the final teams have been selected. These fees are non-refundable once a student-athlete is selected for a team.
All checks should be made out to Newtown High School. The breakdown per sport is as follows: Football $100, Cheerleading $50, Cross Country $50, Field Hockey $100, Girlsâ Volleyball $100, Soccer $100, Girlsâ Swimming $100.
Athletes are asked to bring water bottles to the tryouts.
The Saturday tryout schedule is as follows:
Girlsâ Volleyball
Freshmen 8-9:30 am., Sophomores 9:30-11 am, Juniors and Seniors 11:30 am-1:30 pm and 2:30-3:30 pm in the NHS. Main Gym. Bring sneakers, towels and knee pads.Â
Girlsâ Swimming
All interested swimmers should report to the NHS Pool from 8-11 am. All swimmers must be able to swim 1,000 continuous yards with flip turns.Â
Boysâ Soccer
All interested players should report to the practice field behind the school. The first session will run from 8-11 am and the second session will run from 3-6 pm.
Girlsâ Soccer
All interested players should report to the practice field behind the school with soccer gear and running shoes. The practice sessions will be held from 8-10 am for all prospective players, from 1-3 pm for all returning players, from 2:30-4 pm for freshman only and 6-8 pm for all prospective players.
Boysâ & Girlsâ Cross Country
Interested runners should report to the NHS Track at 10 am and be prepared to run.
Field Hockey
Interested players should report to the track from 8-10 am and to the practice field behind NHS from 4-7 pm. All players should have their sneakers, cleats, mouth guard, shin guards and eye protection.
Football
