Is This What You Voted For?
To the Editors:
Is Obamacare fair and safe? This message was recently asked on the Internet.
Letâs get this straightâ¦Weâre considering passing a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he doesnât understand it. Passed by a Congress that has not read it and exempts them from it. To be signed by a president who also has not read it (and who smokes), with funding by a treasury chief who didnât pay his taxes. Overseen by a Surgeon General who is obese and financed by a country thatâs nearly broke.
What possibly could go wrong?
Other points that President Obama and the media ignore concerning Obamacare are:
1. They keep calling Obamacare a âpublic optionâ; that is not quite true because what you are getting is a âgovernment dictateâ cloaked as a public option, along with government competition with the private sector.
2. Obamacare if approved will not go into effect for four years, not until after Obama runs for re-election. So even at that time most of the public still will not know what is in it and how it will affect them. Very scary and not much different from buying a âPig-in-a-poke.â
3. Out of 320 million people in the US, after you subtract 15 million illegals, there are only about 29 million Americans not covered by health insurance. It would be much cheaper to give them tax credits or otherwise subsidize their paying for medical insurance, than to reinvent the entire health care wheel. But the truth is, Obamacare is not just about providing health insurance. Itâs real agenda is all about putting government in control of medicine and thus unionizing the entire health care industry. It says so in the bill, reports Senator Grassley who has read it.
4. This backdoor imposition of socialism with historically corrupt union bosses in the middle and no mention of tort reform will somehow lower costs. Maybe we need to ask Obama just what he has been smoking?
5. Then you have the government-funded abortions, euthanasia as a suggested health choice, and withholding of care determined subjectively by some state appointed committee.
Is this the change you voted for?
