ART COLONIES TALK AT PHILLIPS SEPT. 13

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Phillips Collection will host an Artful Evening gallery talk, “In the Company of Artists — Art Colonies of American Impressionism,” September 13 as part of its Thursday extended hours from 5 to 8:30 pm. Gallery talks are at 6 and 7.

Attendees can learn how the popular art-colony movement of the Nineteenth Century promoted the development of Impressionist practices in America. Painting outdoors, artists explored the bucolic landscapes of locales like Cos Cob, Conn., and New Hope, Penn.
