Wind Over Wings Program

At Next Bird Club Meeting

SOUTHBURY — At the September meeting of Western Connecticut Bird Club, Hope Douglas of Wind Over Wings will present “Understanding Flight,” using four non-releasable birds of prey to illustrate the magic of flight.

Hope Douglas is an acclaimed wildlife rehabilitation specialist and conservation educator. Eleven years ago she founded Wind Over Wings, a non-profit organization dedicated to returning wildlife to nature and to providing wildlife protection education.

The birds to be presented will be an American Kestrel, one of the fastest fliers in the world; an Eurasian Eagle-owl, the largest owl in the world, to show silent flight; a Turkey Vulture, to show soaring; and a Red-tailed Hawk, to permit detailed looks at feathers.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13, at 7 pm, at Southbury Library, on Main Street. The public is invited free of charge. For further information, call 270-9953 or 938-9165.
