Town Historian Dan Cruson is getting settled at his new office space at Newtown Municipal Center, unpacking books, artifacts, photographs, documents, and other records representing Newtown’s history.

Mr Cruson recently relocated from space he occupied at Edmond Town Hall. Town personnel recently helped him make the move from Main Street to the municipal building within the Fairfield Hills campus, where he now uses a small suite and vault formerly occupied by the town judge of probate.

The local font of historical knowledge hopes to make himself available and hold office hours Tuesday and Thursday afternoons after 2 pm.

Mr Cruson also handles business related to local history through e-mail at [naviga:u]dcruson@charter.net[/naviga:u]. He will respond to inquiries as soon as possible, he said.

Rooms in the municipal center’s lower level offer storage for the materials relocated to the facility, and Mr Cruson is in the process of transferring items upstairs and into the vault as time permits.

Historian Dan Cruson studies an old photograph, using a magnifying glass to bring out details in the image. On the table is one of his many books chronicling Newtown’s past, to which he compares the photograph. —Bee Photo, Bobowick
