Sports Car Hits Parked School Bus In Sandy Hook Center

Police report an accident involving a school bus in Sandy Hook Center at about 7:15 am on Thursday, August 27, which was the first day of school.

Police said motorist Jared Fiala, 18, of 49 Main Street was driving a 1995 Mazda Miata two-seat convertible sports car eastward on Church Hill Road near the Sandy Hook Diner, when the right side of the Mazda struck the left rear section of a parked All-Star Transportation school bus. The school bus was unoccupied, police said.

Jordan Fiala, 14, of the same address, who was a Mazda passenger, received cuts and scrapes in the collision and he was transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for treatment of minor injures, police said. The accident is under investigation.
