Police Warn Of AT&T Identity Theft ScamÂ
Police are warning the public about a fraudulent email scheme that has been occurring on the Internet.
Police Officer Jason Flynn is warning residents about an email message that is being sent to Internet users which fraudulently claims that is from AT&T, the major telecommunications firm and Internet service provider.
The fraudulent email claims that respondents can win $10,000 on the day that the email is received, and also win $50,000 this month, according to Officer Flynn.
The email asks that its recipients provide their credit card information electronically.
Such personal and/or financial information should not be provided, the police officer stressed.
Providing such information could compromise the identity of recipients and make them vulnerable to identity theft, he said.
