Exhibition Of âEclecticaâ At Booth Library In September
Anne Marie Foran, a Newtown artist and sculptor, will be featured in a one-woman exhibition at The Cyrenius H. Booth Library throughout the month of September.
The show, entitled âEclectica,â comprises more than 30 pieces and represents the broad and diverse styles and forms in which Ms Foran has worked. They include oils, watercolors and collages, as well as subjects ranging from portraits, landscapes and still lifes to paintings of more abstract design.
Originally a resident of New York City, Ms Foran received a degree in art from Marymount Manhattan College in New York. Since coming to Connecticut after her marriage to the writer Ray Sipherd, she has studied art and sculpture at the Washington Art Association in Washington Depot, and at Brookfield Craft Center. She also studied with the portrait artist and teacher Daniel Green.
Currently, the work of Ms Foran may be found in private collections in New York City, Boston, Minneapolis, Nantucket and Bedford, New York.
Noted for her affinity to color, particularly in her floral paintings, she draws many of her subjects from the gardens of her home in Newtown, which she has nurtured over a score of years.
An opening reception will be hosted by the library on Sunday, September 12, from 1 to 3 pm. The public is invited to attend, and to meet the artist. The collection can be viewed during regular library hours; call 203-426-4533 for additional information.
