MUSEUMS JOIN FORCES FOR FUNDING, WESTERN RESERVE, CINCINNATI

ak/gs set 8/27 #710292

CLEVELAND, OHIO — The Western Reserve Historical Society (WRHS) increased its state funding this year by joining forces with The Cincinnati Museum Center in lobbying for additional operating support.

Both entities were awarded $700,000 appropriations in the two-year, $52 billion budget recently passed by Ohio lawmakers and signed by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. For WRHS, that is a significant increase over what the society achieved in the previous state budget cycle.

WRHS President Gainor Davis said, “We have been working with a collaborative spirit within our own community and decided to look outside the box for additional opportunities.”

The Western Reserve Historical Society is at 10825 East Boulevard. It operates eight historical properties in northeast Ohio at five locations and is the oldest cultural institution in northeast Ohio. The Cincinnati Museum Center is at 1301 Western Avenue.
