For Fall Health Care Classes
WATERBURY â Naugatuck Valley Community Collegeâs new Health Care Careers catalog contains information about dozens of courses and programs being offered this fall to help nurses and allied health professionals meet their continuing education goals.
Nurses may select from a variety of courses, including a new lecture series on forensic nursing, led by state trooper and forensic nurse Nancy Cabelus, MSN, RN. Other courses include anger management issues in children and adolescents, a flu and pneumonia update, introduction to camp nursing, and neuro and GI assessment refreshers.
Additional courses are available for health care providers in the areas of radiology, phlebotomy, certified nurse aide, patient care technician, emergency medical technician, medical office skills, Reiki, yoga, and meditation. NVCC also offers tailored training programs for health care agencies.
NVCC offers proficiency certificates in several health care fields, including certified nurse aide, patient care technician, and emergency medical technician. Medical office proficiency certificates are also available online in administrative medical specialist, medical transcription, and advanced coding for the physicianâs office.
A limited number of scholarships are available for students in need of financial assistance for noncredit courses in nurse aide certification and emergency medical technician.
