70 Years Of Music & Life On Stage At Seven Angels

WATERBURY — What do Elvis, Sinatra, The Beatles, Sonny and Cher, Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears and Groucho Marx have in common?

They’re all part of WATR Radio’s 70th anniversary extravaganza Showstoppers: The Music And Times Of Your Life, playing at Seven Angels Theatre the weekends of September 10-12 and 17-19.

Approximately 70 performers – both community theatre veterans and novices alike – will take to the stage for a spectacular tribute of the best musical memories and pop cultural icons of the past seven decades.

The actors, singers and dancers involved have been rehearsing since July, and hail from nearly two dozen cities and towns in Connecticut. In addition to the greater Waterbury region, the performers also call Burlington, Newtown, Terryville and Vernon home.

The Stage II Community Theatre nostalgia-themed show is being directed by WATR General Manager Tom Chute, himself a well-known local theatre actor. Musical direction is by Richard DeRosa, with assistant musical direction by Dave Guardino, and choreography by Rob Merante.

Seven Angels is greater Waterbury’s only Equity professional regional theatre. It is located in Waterbury’s historic Hamilton Park Pavilion, just minutes off I-84 Exit 24 West or Exit 25 East.

Showstoppers: The Music And Times Of Your Life runs September 10-11 and 17-18 at 8 pm, September 12 and 19 at 2 pm, and September 19 at 7 pm. Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for students.
