Benefit Performance By Country Players—

Danbury Women’s Center At 26

DANBURY — In celebration of the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury’s 26th anniversary, Country Players of Brookfield will present a benefit performance of Exit The Body on Sunday, September 16, at 2 pm. A wine and cheese reception follows the performance. Tickets are $25 and may be obtained by calling the Women’s Center at 731-5200.

Country Players’ theater is on Route 25 in Brookfield Center, next to Brookfield Library.

The center continues offering free and confidential support groups during September. For information or to register for their divorce support group, domestic abuse (both in New Milford and Danbury), the day or evening self esteem for women, teen self esteem or sexual assault survivors call the center at 731-5200. In addition, drop-in groups continue for “Fifty Plus,” incest and lesbian support.

Volunteer training for sexual assault and domestic violence state certification begins September 27. Last year volunteers provided over 20,000 hours of crisis intervention, counseling and advocacy on behalf of center clients. Contact Volunteer Manager Melanie Danyliw for a volunteer packet.

A “Homebuyer Workshop for Single Income Families” will be presented by Jan August on Tuesday, September 25. The public is invited to this free program; however, due to space limitations, registration is required.

The Women’s Center’s offices are open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Call 731-5200 for more information on programs, clients services and community education and outreach, or for tickets for the Country Players benefit performance.
