The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive on Thursday, September 4, from 1 to 6 pm, at Masonicare at Newtown, 139 Toddy Hill Road. A bloodmobile from the American Red Cross will be located in the parking lot.

The event is open to the public and community members are encouraged to consider donating. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. All blood types are needed.

Summer is historically a difficult season to get donors with vacations and family activities in full swing. However, the need for blood doesn’t slow down. There is currently an 8,000-unit blood shortage in Connecticut, resulting in the urgent need for donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve and give.
