Yoga For Kids
WOODBURY â The early fall 2005 session of childrenâs classes at Woodbury Yoga Center will begin September 7. The class this year will meet on a new day and at a new time.
âWYC Childrenâs Yogaâ engages children in an hour of playful, creative, and natural movement that is at its heart just plain fun. Yoga develops good coordination, posture, strength and healthy habits to release pent-up energy. Each class is facilitated in a way that promotes self-esteem, empowerment, respect and connectedness.
Childrenâs classes are offered in two four-week sessions. Session 1 will run September 7-28 and Session 2 will run October 5-26.
Classes will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30 pm at the yoga center, 122 West Side Road.
Instructor Laura McEvoy received her Yoga Teacher Certification from Kripalu in June 2002. She has been practicing for 15 years and she has a special interest in teaching children.
âTheir ever present, unique and authentic spirit serves as a reminder that yoga can bring us âhomeâ to that true being. So often children are told to calm down and relax, yet they arenât taught how. Through yoga children learn to develop coordination, healthy habits and coping mechanisms,â says Ms McEvoy.
Cost is $55 per child. Multiple class and other special discounts are available.
