Devoted ‘Nana’

Celia Grande, 90, wife of the late Joseph Grande of Heritage Village, Southbury, died August 22 at Pope John Paul II Center for Healthcare in Danbury.

Mrs Grande is survived by her daughter, Theresa Long of Southbury; her grandchildren, Michael Long and his wife, Gina, of Newtown, Theresa Gordon and her husband, Rick, of New City, N.Y., Joseph Long and Doris of Carmel, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Tracey Anne, R.J., Michael, Thomas, Joseph and Sarah.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Long; and by a granddaughter, Tracey Anne Long.

Mrs Grande was born in New York City, July 7, 1915, a daughter of Antonio and Pelecrina (Deloggaloa) Chiocchi. She moved to the Bronx with her husband and daughter in 1957. Mrs Grande worked diligently for 50 years in the artificial flower industry. She has been a resident of Southbury for the past five years.

Mrs Grande was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family and was known as “Nana” by all who loved her. She will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, at 9:30 am, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St Rose of Lima Church. Interment will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Rye Brook, N.Y. Calling hours were scheduled at the Honan Funeral Home Thursday, August 25, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
