Youthful Offender
Youthful Offender
After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, a 16-year-old girl from Sandy Hook turned herself in on August 21 and was arrested on charges of fourth degree larceny, conspiracy, and criminal liability for the actions of another person, police said.
The charges stem from multiple incidents of theft from a locker room at Newtown High School, according to police. Police received a complaint on the matter last March. Fourth degree larceny involves the theft of items worth between $500 and $1,000.
After processing the case, police released the girl into the custody of a parent for a September 1 appearance in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. The identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes are shielded by state law.
Driving Violations
Police report they stopped motorist Manette Parr, 41, of Danbury on Wasserman Way about 4:47 pm August 22 for driving a vehicle that had no front marker plate.
After investigating, police charged Parr with failure to display a front marker plate, misuse of a marker plate, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
Police held Parr on $5,000 bail for an August 23 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Currituck Road
Police said that at about 11:50 am August 22, they spotted motorist Carrie Egan, 20, of New Milford exceeding the posted speed limit on Currituck Road, so they stopped her to investigate.
Police charged Egan with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving while under suspension. Police released Egan on a written promise to appear in court on September 7.
