Garner Prisoner Arrested On Assault Charge

State police said they were called to the state’s high-security Garner Correctional Institution at 50 Nunnawauk Road about 6:30 pm August 14 to investigate an incident involving an inmate and a correction officer.

State police said that inmate Denair Marshall, 27, spit on a correction officer while that officer was giving Marshall his dinner.

After investigating, state police arrested Marshall on charges of assault on a correction officer and refusal to be fingerprinted.

Marshall was scheduled for arraignment the following day in Danbury Superior Court. Marshall is serving a prison term in Garner on a conviction for violation of probation.
