Dramatic Production At CAC
On the afternoon of August 18, the bike area at the Childrenâs Adventure Center (CAC) was transformed into a stage. Children entering kindergarten next week performed Little Red Riding Hood, an original interpretation written by teacher Linda Markin.
The students were involved in all aspects of the play: planning, production, acting, and set design. The scenery was designed by summer intern Lenora Thornton. The students helped create the six-foot murals that provided the colorful backdrop.
Costumes were designed and created by the children with a little help from their teachers. Teacher Anne Marie DeVivo directed the production. Ms DeVivo, along with being an early education teacher, studied art and theater in college. Teacher Nora Lundgren assisted with directing.
The actors in the play were Raven Truitt as Little Red Riding Hood. Tyler Rising played the Wolf. Michael Jean Glover had a dual role as the Mom and the Good Fairy. Elizabeth Weisgerber had the role of Grandma. Tyler Detlefsen was the Woodsman while Jack Miller was the Tree. Jacob Markowski was the very able stage hand.
The Childrenâs Adventure Center recently celebrated its 37th anniversary serving Newtownâs daycare needs. CAC is a nonprofit center whose director is Rose Luizzi. Teacher Linda Markin recently retired after 25 years of service.
