Dialogue In The Roman Catholic Church
Dialogue In The
Roman Catholic Church
FAIRFIELD â The Living Theology series, sponsored by Fairfield Universityâs Catholic Studies program, will present âDialogue in the Church: The State of the Questionâ on Saturday, September 23, at 9:30 am. Bradford Hinze, PhD, a noted author and professor of theology at Fordham University, will lead the 2½-hour morning workshop in the School of Nursing Auditorium. It is the first of three fall workshops that are free and open to the public.
Dr Hinze is the author of Narrating History, Developing Doctrine: Friedrich Schleiermacher and Johann Sebastian Drey and the editor or coauthor of four other books. His latest book, Practices of Dialogue in the Roman Catholic Church: Aims and Obstacles, Lessons and Laments, was published this year by Continuum Press.
In the workshop, Dr Hinze will lead a discussion on the forms and fortunes of dialogue in the Catholic Church, examining places where dialogue has been successfully conducted an places where problems and obstacles to dialogue continue to exist.
The Living Theology Series is free and open to the public and features three Saturday sessions each semester on the Fairfield University campus. The sessions are intended to help local Catholics and others learn about the latest thinking in the church and develop their own thoughts on these important topics.
On Saturday, October 21, Paul Baumann, editor of Commonweal magazine, will lead a pre-Election Day workshop titled âReligion, Politics and the Electoral Process.â The final Living Theology workshop for the semester is âWhatâs So Fascinating about the Gnostic Gospels?â scheduled for Saturday, December 2.
