Church Fair Planned For Sept. 1

Newtown Congregational Church is sponsoring a fair on Saturday, September 1, from 9 am until 3 pm. NCC member Linda Manganaro is serving as chairman of the event.

Vendors will include jewelry, sand art, indoor plants, photography prints, gift items, and others. Tag sale and boutique items will also be available.

A bake sale will be held, and coffee and tea, and a variety of breakfast treats will be provided. Food items for sale will consist of meatball grinders, hot dogs, and hamburgers, plus an assortment of cold drinks.

Children will be entertained by games, a raffle, face painting, and a clown handing out balloons.

Fair trade gifts, housewares, jewelry and more handmade items from artisans and farmers living in developing countries will also be available for purchase. Fair trade is an international movement to build trading relationships built on respect and to alleviate poverty.

A Greater Gift, a nonprofit program of the 55-year-old SERRV International, is hosting this sale in partnership with Newtown Congregational Church. The organization partners with artisans and farmers to help them gain access to markets and maintain steady work and a sustainable income to provide for their families.

The fair will be held inside the air-conditioned building, with plenty of parking available. Newtown Congregational Church is at 14 West Street.
