Changing The Face Of Politics

To the Editor:

Two weeks ago I wrote to this paper complaining that the upcoming election is a choice between the “lesser of who cares” meaning I wasn’t impressed with either of the two major party candidates, complaining loudly of the well-known arrogance and scorn for the taxpayers Mr Rosenthal proudly displays, and also of the seemingly meek response on the part of Mr Borst the Republican candidate.

Much to my surprise, Mr Borst quickly responded to my letter of complaint. He asked publicly that I contact him to discuss my views. Mr Borst and I eventually did contact each other and I was pleasantly surprised by his openness and willingness to discuss the current state of politics in Newtown. I am happy to say he is right, his words were clearly taken out of context by the reporter he was speaking to and do not indicate his feelings on running for first selectman.

I found Joe Borst to be sincere and dedicated to making Newtown “Nicer,” and to changing the face of politics in town. Mr Borst and I agree that Newtown desperately needs a change in government. Newtown deserves a first selectman and government that is in touch with the taxpayers, and not one who “doesn’t care if things cost him an election” as long as he gets what he wants. I congratulate Mr Borst on his nomination for first selectman, and I am confident he is dedicated to winning the election. I’m voting for Joe Borst, and I hope those taxpayers who are also fed up with the arrogance and scorn they receive from the current administration do so too!
