COLUMBUS, OHIO — Members of the Tea Leaf Club International will gather for their annual convention September 21–23, at the Doubletree Hotel.

For early arrivals on Thursday, September 20, a special open house and tour is planned of one of the largest and most varied collections of Tea Leaf chinawares found anywhere. One of the original and most active members of the club is inviting attendees to view his extensive private collections.

On Friday a tour of sites around the Ohio state capital will be conducted, followed by evening opening ceremonies that include a display of vignettes set up by members and featuring Tea Leaf china bath sets, the special focus of this year’s event.

Saturday is the busiest day of the weekend and features the Tea Leaf auction, where hundreds of choice pieces will cross the block. Beginning at 10:15 am, the auction will continue until 12:15 pm, when a recess will be called for a luncheon. Starting up again at 1:30 pm, the sale will continue until all the lots are sold, usually around 4 pm.

Evening activities get under way at 6, including the annual business meeting followed by the banquet. After dinner, two special programs will be presented — bathwares by club member and authority Adele Armbruster and Tea Leaf treasures by Maxine Johnson.

Closing out the weekend will be Sunday morning table sales, where club members will have one final opportunity to buy Tea Leaf pieces.
