Language Courses For High School Students At Fairfield University
FAIRFIELD â Fairfield University is making several of its language courses available to high school students to earn college credit at a 50 percent tuition discount. In addition to Spanish and French, the university is offering courses in Chinese, German, Hebrew, Japanese, and Russian, as well as the classical languages of Greek and Latin.
âThis is a wonderful opportunity for high school students who might want to prepare for careers in the global economy, learn a language not offered by area high schools, and/or enhance their credentials for college admission,â said Thomas J. Regan, S.J., associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Several classes are scheduled after 2:30 pm to accommodate high school studentsâ schedules. Registration ends September 5. Students must register in person and bring a letter from their high school principal or guidance counselor verifying they will be enrolled in high school during the fall of 2001.
Students can register at the registrarâs office Monday through Thursday, from 8 am to 7:15 pm, and Fridays, from 8 am to noon, at Canisius Hall, room 200.
The fall semester runs from Wednesday, September 5, to Tuesday, December 11. For more information call the College of Arts and Sciences at 203-254-4000, extension 2223.Â
