Breakers Softball

The Breakers Girls fast pitch softball program will hold tryouts for the 2002 season on September 8 and 9 at Second Hill Lane School off Nichols Avenue in Stratford. The U16 and Y18 teams will tryout from 11 am to 2 pm on September 8 while the U10, U12 and U14 teams will tryout from 12 noon to 3 pm on September 9. A U23 team is also forming. Pomperaug Golf Classic

The second annual Pomperaug Community Golf Tournament will be held Monday, October 22, at Heritage Village in Southbury, to benefit the Christian youth groups in the area. Last year, more than $5,000 was raised to provide funds to the Pomperaug Community Youth Fund, which supported such projects as a Good Friday overnight, an alcohol-free high school graduation night, and sending a teenager going to the Dominican Republic to help out communities there. Fall Basketball Leagues

Triple Double Enterprises, Inc., has announced the formation of fall basketball leagues for players who would fit into the 30-and-over and 40-and-over divisions. The 30-and-over league will play on Monday nights while the 40-and-over league will play on Wednesday nights, both at the Police Activities League (PAL)_facility in Danbury. Brewster Rockets

The Brewster Rockets girls’ fastpitch softball organization will be holding tryouts for the 2002 season on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9, at Markel Park in Brewster, New York. September 8 – U10 and U14 players at 9 am, U16 and U12 players at 11 am, and U18 players at 1 pm; September 9 – U12 and U18 players at 9 am, U10 and U14 players at 11 am, U16 players and any others who could not make age appropriate time slots at 1 pm. 3-on-3 Hoops

The Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross is sponsoring a 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament on Saturday, September 8, in Danbury. There are male and female divisions for players in grades 5 and 6 and grades 7 and 8. Entry fee is $45 per team, with four players per team. There will be awards, prizes, and individual skill contests like Foul Shooting, 3-Point Shooting, Knockout and Shake, Rattle & Roll. Call 1-203-792-8200 for further information.
