The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome Dmitri Wright for an oil painting demonstration on Wednesday, August 26, at 1:30 pm. His subject will be a landscape.

The program will take place in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). All are welcome, free of charge.

Mr Wright is an American Impressionists painter. He received the Max Beckman International Scholar at Brooklyn Museum Art School studying under Rueben Tam, and at Cooper Union under Wolf Kahn and Will Barnet.

Wright’s travels have taken him to paint and/or teach in Italy, France, Ireland, Austria, England, West Indies, Central and South America, and throughout the United States, visiting over a dozen National Parks sites. His work focuses on the preservation and progress of Impressionism.

Mr Wright is the Master Artist/Instructor for Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut, a National Park dedicated to American Impressionism. He is also the first artist-in-residence instructing and lecturing at Greenwich Historical Society, the birthplace of American Impressionism.

Mr Wright teaches at Silvermine Art School and also privately. His work is housed in hundreds of American and international collections; museums, corporate and private.
