Todd Ruggere of Massachusetts made a stop at My Place Restaurant on August 15 during his fundraising Pour Tour of Connecticut last week.

Stopping in each town in the state and donating a $1 from beer pints sold at particular establishments, he managed, with Newtown’s help, to raise more than $50,000 to put toward research to fight pediatric cancer during his second annual Pour Tour. His brief stop at the Queen Street tap room and restaurant raised more than $150, he said in an e-mail this week. He had reached his initial $50,000 goal.

My Place was stop number 168, before Mr Ruggere concluded his tour in Stratford on August 16. His Connecticut tour ended at Two Roads Brewing Company, who sponsored this year's tour. Visit the to see where Mr Ruggere has been.CT Pour Tour page on Facebook

Connecticut’s Pour Tour followed a successful Massachusetts tour last year.

As posted on his website, Mr Ruggere said, “Last year I had a beer in all 351 MA towns and raised over $40,000 for Dana Farber Children’s Cancer Institute.” This year all money raised is going to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.

My Place Restaurant owner Mark Tambascio had said that $1 from every pint purchased that evening between 6 and 7 pm, went go to Mr Ruggere’s cause.

Todd Ruggere traveled to every town and city in Connecticut in this vehicle this year, in an attempt to raise a glass of beer and also raise funds toward pediatric cancer research. His penultimate stop on the Connecticut Pour Tour was in Newtown on August 15.
