Donnalee Walko

Donnalee Walko (Lewis), 79, loving wife of the late Joseph F. Walko, passed away on August 17 in Danbury.

She was born on June 13, 1945, in Danbury, the daughter of Kenneth G. Lewis and June (Purdy) Lewis. She grew up in Southbury and graduated from Southbury High School.

She is survived by and will be forever missed by her three daughters: Kristine Stewart and her husband Craig of New Milford; Karin Blankschen and her husband Ken of New Milford; and Joey Walko-Robinson and her husband Patrick of Waterbury. Donnalee is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Kendall and Kelsey Stewart, Jesse and Cole Blankschen, and Kathleen Robinson and her husband Joseph Mediavilla. She leaves behind her three brothers: Kenneth Lewis (Jean), William Lewis (Cindy), and Aaron Lewis (Laurie). Additionally, she is survived by her cousin, Joanie Griffith, who was like a sister to her; her sister-in-law, Timi Lewis; and many beloved nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

Donnalee was preceded in death by her sweetheart, whom she adored and greatly missed, Joseph Walko, who passed away in 2014; her parents, and her sister, Gail Lewis.

Donnalee worked at Barden Corporation for 40 years until her retirement. During her retirement she enjoyed visiting Cape Cod and Maine with the love of her life and her husband of fifty years, Joe. She also enjoyed holidays and times spent with her family, hosting weekly Saturday night dinners, which were the highlight of the week for her five grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, August 24, from 11 am until 1 pm, at Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street in Danbury.

A funeral service will be held at 12:45 pm at the funeral home.
