Modern Dance Photography By John Kane At Visual Impact Gallery

DANBURY — Visual Impact Gallery has opened its latest photographic exhibit, “Modern Dance Photography,” by John Kane.

Mr Kane has been collaborating with members of the internationally renowned dance troupe Pilobolus for more than a decade. The result is a diverse collection of photographs that celebrate modern dance and the beauty of the human form.

Mr Kane’s images capture the dancers in colorful and humorous multi-body living sculptures, sensuous figure studies and incredible acrobatics. The dancers worked seamlessly with each other and the photographer to help create provocative images that both amaze and amuse the viewer.

John Kane has operated his commercial photography business, Silver Sun Studio, in New Milford since 1979. He has also taught photography for many years at the New England Photographic Workshop and Western Connecticut State University. Whether illustrating fashion, packaging, advertising, or books on the human form, he has traveled the world and knows his way around the studio as few photographers do.

Mr Kane has been published in Cosmopolitan, Better Homes and Gardens, Bon Appetite, House & Garden, Natural History Magazine, and many more. His books included Twisted Yoga, Colors In Fashion and The Human Alphabet. He has produced advertising for many Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest catalog companies.

His show will be on exhibit at Visual Impact through August 31. Visual Impact is located in Commerce Park at 4 Eagle Road in Danbury. Gallery hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday and weekends by appointment.
