On Fairfield Hills
On Fairfield Hills
To the Editor:
On August 12, 2003, the voters of Newtown turned down the Fairfield Hills master plan for various and sundry reasons.
It was very disturbing to me that so few people came out to vote on something that is so crucial to the future of Newtown.
âSo what do we do now, Coach?â I think and recommend that we take a breather and wait until the state completes its due diligence relative to the water and sewer rights and transfers the property to the Town of Newtown, which hopefully will occur before the end of the year or early spring.
In the meantime I recommend the town start planning for the development of the 37 acres of commercial property the state has granted the town off Commerce Drive. I understand, that while this property will be formally transferred to the town at the same time as the Fairfield Hills campus, it is not part of the FFH master plan; therefore, there is no reason we canât start to work on it now.
Lets move forward together.
