The Newtown Tennis Association opened its Coopersmith Cup Tournament (the NTA Junior Championships, sponsored by the Richard Coopersmith family) this week at Dickinson Park.

Players in U10, U14 and U18 age groups battled each other in preliminary action on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the finals in each age division will follow next weekend.

The matchups:

U10 - (Boys) Tim Culligan vs Scott Boisvert; (Girls) Rebecca Castegres versus Shannon Paproski.

U14 - (Boys) Joe Cappiello versus Wes Boisvert; (Girls) Veronica Parsloe versus Katie Serock.

U18 - (Boys) Will Culligan versus Drew Adamek; (Girls) Veronica Parsloe versus Jillian Tanner.
