Emily Anne Timmel to Yariv Alpher

Mr and Mrs William C. Timmel of Riverside Road, Newtown, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Anne Timmel, to Yariv Alpher, son of Yossi and Irene Alpher of Ramat Hasharon, Israel.

The future bride graduated from Newtown High School and holds a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology and dance from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. She received her master’s degree from the University of Chicago in anthropology, and is an exhibit developer at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.

The future bridegroom graduated from Tel Aviv University with a bachelor of arts degree in history and philosophy. He received his master’s degree in history from the University of Chicago, and is a PhD candidate in sociology at New School University. He is currently vice president of communications at Instinet, a Reuters company in New York City.

An April wedding is planned.
