Danbury Concert Chorus, a group of adult singers under the direction of Richard Price, has vacancies in all sections. The chorus, along with Danbury Symphony Brass and organist Ben Woodward, will perform “Music for A Great Space” at St Peter Church on Sunday, November 16.

Music will include the hauntingly beautiful Song for Athene, sung at the funeral of Princess Diana; also Pinkham’s Christmas Cantata for chorus, brass and organ; and two settings, one ancient and one modern, of O Magnum Mysterium. There are no auditions. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings.

Danbury Symphony Orchestra, a group of experienced orchestral performers under the direction of David Katz, will perform “King of Instruments” at St Peter Church on Sunday, November 2. Guest organist will be Stephen Roberts.

The featured selections are Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Strings, and Tympani and Saint-Saen’s Organ Symphony. The group rehearses Monday nights. There are vacancies in all string sections.

Danbury Community Orchestra, a group for amateur adults and teenagers under guest conductor Christopher Hisey, has vacancies in all string sections and various wind and percussion sections.

The orchestra will perform Rimsky-Korsakoff’s Russian Easter Overture, and Anderson’s Christmas Festival, among other works on December 7.

Rehearsals are Wednesday nights. Admittance is by audition.

Auditions for dancers in The Nutcracker Ballet will take place September 19–20 at Danbury High School. Danbury Music Centre’s Nutcracker Ballet is accompanied by Danbury Symphony Orchestra, under David Katz. Arthur Fredric is the artistic director. The fully costumed and staged performance is open to all community dancers. Call Danbury Music Centre for an audition brochure.

The Danbury Preparatory String Orchestra, under the direction of Glen Lebetkin of Danbury, is designed for intermediate level string students who play violin, viola, cello, and bass. New members are welcome to join. The group rehearses Thursday evenings, beginning in mid-September.
