BRIDGEHAMPTON, New York – The Hampton Classic Horse Show returns to Bridgehampton, New York, on Sunday, August 26 and runs through Sunday, September 2.

The Classic will kick off with Manhattan Mortgage Company’s Opening Day presented by Distinction Magazine and Long Island Parents and Children Magazine. Opening Day ceremonies will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the grand prix ring immediately following the leadline classes held for riders under age eight.

Opening Day competition is limited to horses and riders from Long Island.

Following the leadline classes, the Classic’s traditional Opening Ceremonies will begin with World of HorseTM.  An equestrian extravaganza, it will include horse demonstrations and a Parade of Breeds ranging from Kiger mustangs to miniature horses. Spectators will also see llamas, companion dogs, a farm animal fashion show and parade, and more!

An elegant Ladies Sidesaddle Demonstration will also take place as part of Opening Day ceremonies. Spectators will enjoy a formal style of riding that began in the Victorian Era and still remains today. Hollywood stunt rider Ramon Becerra will be on hand to do riding and roping exhibitions and to work in small groups with children.

Dogs will also be part of the festivities with the East End Dog Club’s dog agility demonstration.  Additionally, the Horses and Hounds of the Smithtown Hunt Club will host a traditional foxhunting demonstration. After first becoming popular in the 1600-1700s in England, the sport of foxhunting has remained a sport that hasn’t changed for hundreds of years.

The Classic continues on Tuesday with hunter, jumper and equitation competitions daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will last through Sunday, September 2.

Other major highlights at this year’s Hampton Classic include a Seniors Day on August 30; Celebrity Cruises’ Fiesta Day and the $25,000 Adequan Fiesta Day Grand Prix Qualifier on August 31; the $25,000 Sally Hansen Grand Prix, the $50,000 AmeriChoice Eastern Finals, the $25,000 Calvin Klein Show Jumping Derby, and the $100,000 New Things Grand Prix Bonus Challenge all on September 2.
