Labor Day Will Be A ‘Fintastic’ Holiday For Youngsters At Maritime Aquarium

NORWALK — Youngsters ages 4 to 9 can have a “Fintastic Holiday” on Labor Day, exploring our watery world at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

Reservations are being taken now for programs, which meet on Monday, September 4, from 10 am to 1 pm. There will be two groups, one for ages 4 to 6 and the second for ages 7 to 9.

For the younger kids, the theme is “Sounds Fishy.” Participants will tour the aquarium to look for different kinds of fish and their special adaptations. And fun hands-on activities will answer such questions as: do fish have tongues? do they have ears? do they get scared? And more.

Older students will investigate “Snails Trails and Oyster Shells.” Participants will examine the incredible variety of seashells and meet some of the live animals that inhabit them. Other activities will include experimenting with oyster feeding methods and tracking snail movements.

Cost of a “Fintastic Holiday” is $30 per child, which includes general aquarium admission. Youngsters should bring a brown-bag lunch and wear casual clothes.

Advance registration is required. To sign up or for more details, call The Maritime Aquarium at 203/852-0700, extension 206. The aquarium is at 10 North Water Street.
