Occupation: I’m a homemaker. I was in accounting before I had children, but I stopped after my second child.

Family: I have three children. Daphne is 15 and she’ll be a junior at Newtown High School; Phoebe is 14 and will be a freshman; and Philip is 12 and going into seventh grade at Newtown Middle School. My boyfriend, Michael, is a special person in my life.

Pets: We have five cats and five fish. We have two cats named Callie, from merging our households. Both come at the same time when we call. Nigel is our only boy cat. We have Isis, who was named before all the Middle East problems, and Lola.

How long have you lived here? We moved here June 25, from Indiana, to live closer to my boyfriend’s family. I originated from California, so I like to say I’m a Californian Hoosier Nutmegger.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to go to movies and see new releases, and I also like to take road trips. I like to take a road I’ve never taken before and rely on my GPS to get me back. I love to get lost! I do like to write, and I’m considering a blog.

What is the best place you’ve gotten “lost”? Probably Cincinnati, Ohio. My kids and I were there for a ballgame, and were following my GPS to a restaurant. It took us through all kinds of different neighborhoods. I loved not knowing where we were. I was so happy! We kept driving, but when we got to our destination, the place was boarded up. We ended up following GPS to another place.

Do you have a favorite author or a favorite movie? Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author. I like the love stories and happy endings. I like the classics, too, and I’d like to have met Mark Twain. My favorite movie of all time is The Sound of Music. It’s so whimsical, and I love the music. I love Monsters, Inc, too, and have seen it about a hundred times. I laugh every time I see it.

What have you discovered so far in Newtown? I like the music in Dickinson Park on Thursday evenings. I thoroughly enjoy that — and the zip line there. I’m finding the family-owned food establishments are my favorite. I haven’t eaten at a chain restaurant since I moved here. I’ve been busy unpacking, though…

What kind of music do you listen to? I absolutely love singer/songwriters of American music — just a person, a guitar, and a mic. I like the songs about life and love, that tell a story.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I really loved Alaska. I’ve been there twice on a cruise, and I’d go back in a heartbeat. It’s just gorgeous, with the fresh air and bald eagles flying overhead. It’s my kind of vacation. I’m much more a mountain person than a beach person.

Did you have a favorite toy, growing up? We played a lot of board games. My three brothers and I would play Monopoly and Risk, and the games went on for hours and hours. And my bicycle. I think my love of taking unfamiliar roads comes from bike riding. I rode my bike a lot in Gilroy, Calif., the garlic capitol of the world!
