Recognizing Service
Recognizing Service
To the Editor:
There is going to be a change in the Newtown Probate court in the very near future. Judge Margot Hall, after many years of service to the town and its neediest citizens, is facing mandatory retirement. I have represented many individuals in the area of mental illness at the former Fairfield Hills Hospital, as well as representing a great many individuals in guardianship and conservatorship matters. All of these matters were within the jurisdiction of Judge Hallâs probate court in Newtown. Judge Hall has always acted in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner. The town and the probate court system will be losing a dedicated and highly respected judge.
Margaret Jepsen, who has worked with Judge Hall for a number of years in the Newtown probate office, is now a candidate for the position of probate judge for the Town of Newtown. In the years of representing clients in Newtown, I have had numerous opportunities to work with Ms Jepsen. Ms Jepsen has always exhibited a thorough knowledge of the workings of the probate court system in general and the Newtown court in particular. In addition, she has exhibited the ability to work with people when they are often experiencing major personal issues. She has been involved with the workings of the town for a great number of years. Ms Jepsenâs years of working with the various probate laws and regulations, and applying same to specific life situations, qualify her to be probate judge for the town of Newtown.
