Rear-Ender
Police report a two-car accident on South Main Street, near its intersection with Blue Spruce Drive, about 3:10 pm August 13.
Motorist Hok Chan, 48, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2008 Lexus IS-250 sedan northward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist Juan Alexander, 22, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2001 Honda Civic coupe, according to police.
There were no injuries in the collision. Police said they issued Alexander violations for following too closely, for driving without a license, and for a vehicle registration problem.
Vandalism
Police report that sometime overnight on August 8âAugust 9, someone damaged and removed several sheets of plywood that were affixed to various buildings at Fairfield Hills, the former state psychiatric hospital that is now owned by the town. It is unclear if burglaries occurred.
Police are investigating the incident as a case of third-degree criminal mischief. Police ask anyone with information about the matter to contact Officer Maryhelen McCarthy at the police station at 426-5841.
Incident
Police said they responded on the morning of August 10 to a report of an agitated customer at the Webster Bank branch office at 14 Church Hill Road. However, the customer had left the bank before police arrived at the scene, police said.
The man later returned to the bank, after which police charged Patrick OâDonnell, 18, of Seymour with creating a public disturbance, police said. The charge carries a fine which is appealable in court.
Noise Enforcement
In response to a complaint about excessive motorcycle noise in the area, police on August 15 conducted a vehicular noise enforcement project on Glen Road in Sandy Hook.
Between 10:15 and 11:30 am, police said they observed nine motorcycles travel through that area, but noticed no exhaust noise violations.
All motor vehicles traveling on the road are required to have mufflers designed to reduce engine noise, according to police.
Failure to have a muffler or the deliberate alteration of a muffler to increase exhaust noise is punishable by an infraction that carries a $225 fine, plus the requirement for a motor vehicle inspection to ensure muffler law compliance, according to police.
Warrant
Police report that they arrested Michael Pileggi, 28, of 138 Underhill Road on the morning of August 14 on a warrant on a charge of second-degree failure to appear in court.
The charge stems from a May 27 incident in which police spotted a disabled vehicle with its hazard lights flashing parked on the road near 80 Church Hill Road. On May 27, police charged Pileggi with improper use of marker plates, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and driving without automotive insurance.
After processing on August 14, police released Pileggi on $500 bail for an August 28 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.
Probation Violation
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Charles Hill, 25, of 50 Osborn Hill Road turned himself in at the police station on the evening of August 14 and was charged with violation of probation, police said.
Police said the violation of probation charge against Hill stems from a 2006 arrest involving the sale of narcotics.
Hill posted $10,000 bail for an August 27 appearance at Danbury Superior Court, police said.

Great Ring Road
Someone sometime between 9:30 pm on August 14, and 11 am on August 15, entered a parked, unoccupied vehicle at a property on Great Ring Road and stole some medication from within the vehicle, police said. The vehicle was parked along the section of Great Ring Road lying between its intersections with Farmery Lane and Camelot Crest. Police are investigating the case of sixth-degree larceny. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.
Church Hill Collision
A two-car collision occurred at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Queen Street about 11:43 am August 11.
Motorist Melissa Ferrari, 18, of Brookfield was driving a 2008 Honda Civic sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Kenneth Criscion, 60, of Stratford was driving a 2008 Honda Accord sedan westward on Church Hill Road, police said.
The Civic then started to make a left turn to enter the driveway at 23 Church Hill Road, but in doing so it cut in front of the approaching Accord, resulting in a collision, police said. Ambulance volunteers transported Ferrari for medical treatment, police said. Ferrari received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way, police report.
Mile Hill Road
About 7 pm on August 14, motorist Loren Godejohn, 50, of Naugatuck, who was driving a commercial 2001 Ford SRW Super pickup truck at the intersection of Mile Hill Road and Tinkerfield Road, was struck from behind by a vehicle whose driver then fled the scene by driving the vehicle eastward on Wasserman Way, police said.
Godejohn was not injured.
The motorist who struck the Ford was described as a white woman with brown hair about age 45 who was driving a silver/blue Saab sedan, according to police. That vehicle would have front-end driver side damage.
Police ask anyone with information about the identity of the Saab driver to contract Officer Matthew Hayes at the police station at 426-5841.
Shoplifting
Police said they received a report of alleged shoplifting at the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 12:37 pm August 16, so they went there to investigate.
After investigating, police charged Marietta Hickey, 40, of Waterbury with sixth-degree larceny. Police released her on $1,000 bail for a September 1 appearance at Danbury Superior Court.

Highway Crash
A two-car collision took place on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, about 2:24 pm August 15.
Motorist Yi Wang, 48, of Southbury, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry, braked suddenly for traffic conditions, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by motorist Thomas Foster, 54, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Honda Civic, state police said.
There were no injuries. No enforcement information was available.
Exit 10 Ramp
About 3:27 pm August 13, motorist Catalina Baker, 38, of Brookfield was driving a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica SUV carrying three child passengers on westbound Interstate 84âs Exit 10 on-ramp, state police said.
While negotiating a curve to the left on the wet pavement, the vehicle went out of control and struck some metal-beam guardrailing, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Baker for traveling too fast for conditions.
Four MV Charges
Police report that at about 1:40 pm August 18, motorist Ricky Lopes, 32, of Danbury was seen driving through a stop sign while driving a 1987 Jeep at the intersection of Currituck Road, Obtuse Road, and Hawleyville Road.
Police said they stopped Lopes in the area to investigate, after which they charged him with violating a stop sign, misuse of marker plates, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without automotive insurance.
After processing, police released Lopes on $500 bail for a September 1 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
