Beth El To Host Open House
Beth El To Host Open House
SOUTHBURY â For those who are looking for a new Jewish spiritual home and are not sure where to turn, Beth El Synagogue will host a Members and Prospective Membersâ Open House Sunday, August 23, from 10 am to 1 pm. The synagogue is at 444 Main Street North.
Breakfast will be offered and guests can learn about the synagogue and its members, and enjoy conversation and a sing-along with current members. All who attend will receive a High Holy Day packet filled with High Holy Day Q and Aâs, inspirational readings, luscious recipes, family activities, and more.
Committee chairs and members, including representatives of the new Beth El Synagogue Teens Committee, will be on hand to discuss social, cultural, and educational programming, and social action activities.
While children are engaged in pre-High Holy Day activities, Rabbi Eliana Falk and Cantor Sharon Citrin will answer questions about âThe Mores, Membership and Meaning of Conservative Judaism.â
âSome people think you have to be very observant, or very traditional to be comfortable in a Conservative synagogue, but that really is not the case,â says Rabbi Falk. Â âAt Beth El, we draw on the heart of the tradition while creating an inclusive atmosphere for all, wherever they are on their spiritual paths. We strive to make our services welcoming and accessible to people of all backgrounds, and to provide opportunities for everyone to be involved in whatever way is most meaningful for them.
âWeâre a strong faith community, and weâre in a wonderful position to grow and serve the local Jewish community,â he continued.
Beth Elâs dues are affordable and no one is turned away for lack of funds. High Holy Day tickets are reasonably priced, and the cost of tickets can be applied to annual dues.
The synagogue draws members from Southbury and surrounding towns, and the entire synagogue building is handicap accessible. For more information contact Membership Chair Peri Swaniger at 262-8880 or pds256@charter.net.
