40,000 Pages!
40,000 Pages!
To the Editor:
The âTweens & Teens Summer Reading program at C.H. Booth Library has just ended, and it was a great success. Forty-one young people entering sixth grade or higher took part and altogether they read almost 40,000 pages! Of the 129 different titles that readers chose, the most popular were series by Scott Westerfeld (Uglies), Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events), J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), and Margaret Peterson Haddix (Shadow Children).
On behalf of the library, I would like to thank the following local businesses who generously donated prizes and gift certificates that were awarded in our raffles each week. These merchants and community members know the value of reading, and their incentives are an integral part of the program. We thank them for their community spirit:
Bagel Delight, Cave Comics, Dunkinâ Donuts, Edmond Town Hall Theater, Francoâs Pizza, Ice Cream Shop, Mona Lisa Restaurant, My Place Restaurant, Newtown Drug Center, Newtown Pizza Palace, and Tambascioâs Italian Grill.
Congratulations to all the participants and the sponsors in summer 2009!
